Barney Frank continues his actions to annul the issues of UIGEA, which bans Americans from wagering on online gaming.
The proposals of The Morongo Band of Mission Indians and Commerce Casino will be taking to the state Legislature in January 2010. If the decisions are taken they would operate the Internet poker sites.
According to Federal law, the Americans are not clearly blocked from playing online poker, but they are forbidden to use financial institutions to transfer money for Internet betting.
The main target of the proposals is that the online poker sites have to apply to the California state lines, but state law accords Indian tribes exclusive right of operation. But this exclusivity doesn’t come cheap because the Indian tribes have to pay $361 million in kickbacks.
With state regulations in favor of gambling, Indian tribes operations would be affected. There are over 350 gambling entities able to apply for a part of the big profits.
